Hongi's Hikoi
A Trio of Travellers: Three Men. Three Countries
200th Anniversary Commemorations

A series of bicentennial commemorative events and educational initiatives acknowledging the 1820-1821 journey to England, by three of the most pivotal characters from within New Zealand early-19th century history; Maori chief, Hongi Hika, Waikato and Thomas Kendall.
In mid-2020, it will have been 200 hundred years since this trio of men sailed from the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, to London, England - each for their own reasons.
In mid-2021, it will be 200 years since they returned home.
